Part of series: Heroes [TV Series]: One of the many serialized dramas which dominated the 2006-2007 TV season, NBCs Heroes dealt with a disparate group of people from all over the world, ranging from a teenager to thirtysomethings, who suddenly discovered that they possessed superpowers. Drug-addict artist Isaac Mendez (Santiago Cabrera) could paint disturbingly accurate pictures of the future -- but only when he was stoned; cop Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg) was able to hear other peoples thoughts; single mother Niki Sanders (Ali Larter) seemed to have a super-strong, violent alter ego; Japanese comic-book fanatic Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka) had the capacity to make time stand still or travel through time; 17-year-old cheerleader Claire Bennet (Hayden Panettiere) was seemingly indestructible; politician Nathan Petrelli (Adrian Pasdar) has the power of flight; his brother, male hospice nurse Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia) can absorb the powers of others around him, and so it went. Brought together to try to prevent an impending horrific disaster in New York City, these novice (and ofttimes reluctant) superheroes were forced to cope with their new skills and to hopefully channel them for a common purpose of good, all the while being plagued with surrealistic flashbacks and weighted down with traumatic backstories. Created by Tim Kring (Crossing Jordan), Heroes debuted September 25, 2006. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide Includes seasons: Heroes: Season 01 Includes episodes: Heroes: In His Own Image: The essence of superhero comic books combines with weekly television drama aesthetics in this fantasy series concerning a random group of normal people suddenly instilled with superhuman powers. Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia) is a male nurse who suddenly discovers his dreams of flight have become a startling reality, and Hiro Nakamura (Masa Oka) is a Japanese office worker and comic book fanatic who awakens one day to discover he has the power to teleport anywhere he wants by bending time and space. In addition to these two, single mother and Las Vegas stripper Niki Sanders (Ali Larter) finds a duel personality with incredible strength emerging, high school cheerleader Claire Bennett (Hayden Panettiere) is shocked to discover that she can walk away from most any physical trauma completely unharmed, and heroin-addicted artist Isaac Mendez (Santiago Cabrera)s paintings begin taking on a prophetic - and frighteningly apocalyptic - tone. Meanwhile, in India, university professor Mohinder Suresh (Sendil Ramamurthy) is compelled to continue to extraordinary research his father was conducting at the time he was mysteriously murdered - research that could ultimately provide an explanation for the inexplicable proliferation of powers while bringing all of the gifted individuals together to fight a common cause. But someone doesnt seem to want these powerful individuals to pool their remarkable resources, and it appears that theyre willing to resort to murder in order to prevent that from happening. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide Heroes: Dont Look Back: Hiro successfully leaps through space and time, and Nikki makes a startling discovery in the wake of a blackout. ~ Matthew Tobey, All Movie Guide Heroes: One Giant Leap: Hiro employs the help of a sidekick.
