Another great Definitive reissue from the Verve vault of 1950's Buddy DeFranco LPs. The booklet recreates the original cover art and liner notes. The LP was a swinging sextet session from 1956, with Harry "Sweets" Edison on trumpet, Jimmy Rowles (piano), Barney Kessel (guitar), Bob Stone (bass), Bobby White (drums), and of course Buddy's unmatchable clarinet! Added are three bonus tracks of Buddy's quintet with Sonny Clark (piano), which are not duplicated on Definitive's "Sonny Clark and Buddy DeFranco Complete Sessions" (Definitive #DRCD11260). These live tracks are mentioned in liner notes as having been "a rare session taken from a TV show", but does not identify the show or the original LP issue. A rare and welcome find, nonetheless, for anyone interested in Buddy DeFranco, Sonny Clark, or just great swinging jazz.
