Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
I read the book for a paper I had to write for my abnormal psychology class. She gave a fascinating perspective on gender as an institution and her struggle with her gender identity. Even so, there is a conspicuous lack of reference to the biological theories and studies on gender, poking holes in her assertions.
