This is the first book that has been written by educated Indians from NewEngland. It tackles tough issues in the beginning (Manifest destiny, conquest & Christianity) relating to the birth of America. The language and style is brief and blunt. Thus the Indian perspective is given, and it is not what your grandmother or elementary school teacher taught you. The main section contains delightful quotes from the 1500s and 1600s--something one rarely sees. Appendices discuss the many contributions of Indians to America, and give a good section on translating place names. This is a book that could serve as supplemental reading in American Civ., anthropology etc.
2 Thumbs up!
Should be a reader in high schools and colleges. This is the Indian story that challanges the school book myths. Very hard on hypocrasy of Christian Faith of Pilgrims.
