Spectrobes is a futuristic
ole-playing game that combines the collecting aspects of Pokémon with action-oriented, real-time combat. The game's title refers to a group of prehistoric creatures lying dormant beneath a planet's surface. The two protagonists, Rallen and Jeena, are ordered to locate these sleeping beasts to help save the galaxy from an aggressive biological force known as the Krawl. Players will not only train the 500 or so creatures for battle, but they must first locate and excavate them by digging or drilling into various parts of the environment using the touch-screen interface. Once a fossil is extracted, the specimen is sent to a spaceship for verbal "awakening" via microphone. The awakened spectrobe is then fed various minerals to help nurture it into a fighting machine. Battles involve using each spectrobe's distinct powers to perform combos and team-up attacks against the hostile Krawl. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide
