Her life changes when encroaching forces of evil force the powers that be to reveal Usagi's true identity: she is the reincarnation of Princess Serenity and her destiny is to defend the galaxy after her kingdom of lifetimes ago was destroyed. Changing into her alter ego, Sailor Moon, Usagi has the confidence and strength that eluded her as merely a middle school student. Sailor Moon combines elements of Greek myth, Japanese society, and pop culture in order to create a lively and benign mix of action, comedy, and minor amounts of een drama. Tsukino Usagi is a young schoolgirl who begins a life of fantastic adventures in this first episode in the animated Sailor Moon saga. Usagi, a girl who can't seem to do anything right, saves a black cat from a pack of cruel teenage boys. To Usagi's surprise, the cat, clearly more than she appears, speaks to Usagi. In return for Usagi's kindness, the cat gives her a brooch that turns Usagi into Sailor Moon. Sailor Moon becomes a member of the Sailor Scouts, a group of super-powered girls who must protect the forces of good from a race of evil demons that prey on humanity.
