Adam-12: Log 1: The Impossible Mission The premiere episode of Adam-12 finds veteran LAPD patrol officer Pete Malloy (Martin Milner), on the verge of retirement, reluctantly agreeing to "break in" a new partner, rookie cop Jim Reed (Martin Milner). Still not completely recovered from the death of his former partner, Pete makes no secret of his contempt for Jim's lack of experience as the two officers answer summonses to capture a pair of liquor store robbers, rescue a suffocating baby, and protect a hysterical woman from a runaway salamander. By the end of the shift, Pete begrudgingly admit to a fondness for Jim and a degree of admiration for the youngster's level-headed dedication to his new job...so he decides to stay on the force a little while longer, if only to keep the kid out of trouble. This debut episode was directed by series producer Jack Webb, who also penned the script under a pseudonym. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
Adam-12: Log 141 Officers Pete Malloy (Martin Milner) and Jim Reed (Kent McCord) are kept on the move with a number of emergency police calls. In one of the evening's tenser moments, the two cops come to the rescue of a pair of youngsters who have swallowed a potentially fatal dose of pep pills. And throughout their shift, Pete and Jim pursue an elusive burglar who specializes in stealing color TVs. Former F Troop leading lady Melody Patterson and future Oscar winner Cloris Leachman head the episode's guest cast. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
Adam-12: Log 11: It's Just a Little Dent, Isn't It? Still on probation, Officer Jim Reed (Kent McCord) obsesses over his involvement in a very minor fender-bender, much to the exasperation of his veteran partner Pete Malloy (Martin Milner). During the two officers' night-watch shift, they canvass a beat that takes them all the way from skid row to the suburbs. Jim and Pete's workload on this occasion include a runaway kid, a family quarrel, a homicide and a climactic high-speed chase. Future Brady Bunch costar Barry Williams appears unbilled. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
Adam-12: Log 131: Reed, the Dicks Have Their Job and We Have Ours On today's docket for officers Jim Reed (Kent McCord) and Pete Malloy (Martin Milner) is a tense kidnapping situation, as a deranged young man (played by future soft-core filmmaker Zalman King) holds a baby at gunpoint while the child's terrified mother (Barbara Baldavin) looks on helplessly. And elsewhere, the two cops come to the aid of a homeowner who is being harrassed by a nasty neighbor. Incidentally, this is the episode in which we learn Jim and Pete's badge numbers. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
Adam-12: Log 91: You're Not the First Guy's Had the Problem In a situation that could be termed a rite of passage, rookie police officer Jim Reed (Kent McCord) must somehow keep his emotions in check and behave in a calm, professional manner as he nervously awaits the medical prognosis on a former Police Academy buddy, who has been seriously wounded. The assignment log tackled by Reed and his veteran partner Pete Malloy (Martin Milner) during this crucial period include the interrogation of two robbery suspects, and a sobriety test administered to an uncooperative motorist. Appearing as a cop in this and several other Adam-12 episodes is former football pro and future Hogan's Heroes regular Kenneth Washington. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
Adam-12: Log 161: And You Want Me to Get Married! Mobile officer Pete Malloy (Kent McCord) is a bit tired of his partner Jim Reed (Kent McCord) extolling the joys of married life. In fact, Jim is more determined than ever to remain a bachelor after he and Pete are summoned to break up a rather vicious domestic dispute. Elsewhere, the two officers arrive at the scene of a car crash where a woman has been pinned under her vehicle, and chase down the perpetrators of a liquor store robbery. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
Adam-12: Log 71: I Feel Like a Fool, Malloy This episode runs the gamut from comedy to tragedy for LAPD mobile officers Pete Malloy (Martin Milner) and Jim Reed (Kent McCord). On the lighter side, the two cops break up a loud and nasty argument between a pair of "peace and love" cultists. Thing take a grimmer turn when the officers answer a call for help from a hysterical babysitter, and arrive on the scene of a calamitous swimming-pool accident. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
Adam-12: Log 72: El Presidente Officers Pete Malloy (Martin Milner) and Jim Reed (Kent McCord) answer a summons from a bemused suburbanite, who can't figure out why over fifty Mexican youngsters have "adopted" him as a surrogate father and camped out on his front lawn. Elsewhere, the two patrolman capture a robber, and try to extricate a sniper from a small bungalow. And it what may turn out to be the most terrifying incident on their shift, Pete and Jim try to break up a fistfight between two drunken middle-aged ladies. Featured in the guest cast are Batman's former "Chief O'Hara" Stafford Repp, and frequent Jerry Lewis costar Del Moore. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

And finally, Pete and Jim set their sights on a brace of young punks who going wild with a cache of stolen credit cards. Among the supporting players is Margaret Field, the mother of Oscar-winner actress Sally Field. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

The two officers' other assignments this evening include extricating a youngster who has gotten his head stuck in an iron fence. And on a more serious note, Pete and Jim corner a pair of desperate burglars in a swimsuit factory. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
