American Chopper: Season 01
Part of Series:
American Chopper [TV Series]
This cable TV series has nothing to do with knives or cleavers. The "choppers" of the title are motorcycles -- or to be exact, custom-built motorcycles, designed exclusively for their owners and creators. Flying in the face of stereotype, the series showed how many cycle enthusiasts are not leather-jacketed hellraisers, but people who carry on normal, conservative lives, sometimes in the world of big business. But on weekends, pal, it's another story -- a story that begins with the words "Vrooom, vrooom!" American Chopper debuted March 31, 2003. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

American Chopper: Season 01
The talented Teutul family -- Paul Teutul Sr., Paul Teutul Jr., and Mikey Teutul -- performs its mechanical miracles at Orange County Choppers, a custom motorcycle fabrication service, during season one of the Discovery Channel's American Chopper. The season opener finds the O.C.C. crew battling time -- and one another -- to create the "Black Widow Bike," inspired by the comic book of the same name. From there, the crew designs a custom chopper for a big NASCAR event, in hopes of copping 150 grand. Later on, the Teutuls head to New York and Daytona, again beating deadlines to turn out cool custom bikes. Consuming no fewer than three episodes is the crew's Herculean mission to assemble the cutting-edge "Comanche." In the season finale, it's brother against brother as Paul Jr. "helps" Mikey put together a lues bike. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
